Key materials like concrete, steel, and wood are used, with the process requiring skilled labor and adherence to building codes for safety and durability.

Its main function is to securely transfer the building’s weight to the underlying soil or rock, distributing the load to prevent excessive settlement and ensure stability. Key components include footings, which are the bottom-most elements, and foundation walls, which support the walls above.
